Nakuul Mehta is a descendent of the royal family of Udaipur, Rajasthan. Having acquired a Masters degree in Commerce from University OF Mumbai, Nakuul always wanted to get into acting.

Nakuul’s tryst with showbiz happened in college days when he was spotted by director Satish Kaushik and cast in a soft-drink advertisement. Thereafter, there was no looking back for Nakuul, who went on to do more than three dozen commercials before Bollywood producer Kumar Mangat spotted him and called him for an audition of a film exclusively designed to launch his daughter Amita Pathak .

The audition wasn’t a cakewalk. Nakuul was given different scenes to enact and was told to improvise himself. Determined to do well, Nakuul passed the audition with flying colours.

That marked the beginning of a new kind of hard work for Nakuul. Having been selected for Haal-e-Dil , Nakuul and Amita underwent a three-month acting workshop with theatre personality Om Katare, who taught the newcomers the fine points of facial expression, voice modulation, body language and movement.

Armed with sufficient preparation, Nakuul went into the film’s shooting and, if unitmembers associated with the film are to be believed, has done a terrific job.

Ambitious but cautious, Nakuul hasn’t yet signed any other film. Though he is in talks with another movie with Kumar Mangat, he is presently keeping his fingers crossed for ‘Haal-e-Dil’. Because those who don’t have a father, if not godfather, in Bollywood, don’t get many chances.
